Reinvention From The Inside Out

For women who did everything right and still ended up standing in the fog, wondering where they went.

I had the MBA on the wall.

Thirty years climbing. Six figures plus bonuses plus stock. The kind of career that makes people say you’ve got it made.

What they couldn’t see: Sunday scaries that started on Friday. Two-hour morning routines just to armor up. Sixty extra pounds. Stress headaches. A heart condition nobody had caught yet. A marriage circling the drain.

And somewhere in there, the line between who I was and what I did for a living quietly dissolved. I genuinely could not tell you where Jenn ended and the job began.

So I did what women like us do. I tried to fix it.

Better systems. Better boundaries. Better calendar. I was extremely good at productivity. I was a subject matter expert in it, professionally.

And it did not save me.

Because you cannot organize your way out of a life that isn’t yours.

The shift: I was working on the wrong end

Here’s what I finally understood, and it cost me a decade and most of my health to learn it.

Everyone tells you to fix the outside first. New job. New body. New business. New morning routine. Rebrand, relaunch, optimize, hustle.

That’s the entire industry. And it’s backwards.

You cannot build a life on top of a woman who doesn’t know who she is yet. She’ll build the wrong thing, beautifully, and then wonder in eighteen months why it feels exactly as hollow as the last one.

You don’t rebuild the life and then find yourself in it. You find yourself, and then the life you build actually fits.

Inside first. Everything else is downstream.

The method (super simple, and the order is everything)

I call it The Rewrite. Five steps, and it moves you from the fog to a life that’s actually yours.

The steps are simple. The order is the entire point.

Almost everyone starts at Step 4, because Step 4 is the one that photographs well. Nobody’s selling a course on sitting in the fog with the light on. But the fog is where it starts. It always was.

🛑 Stop optimizing. Start listening.

If you’re a woman in midlife who is tired of being told to do more when what you actually need is to slow down, you belong here.

I write every week about coming home to yourself, and I talk to women who’ve done it on The Comeback Show. No hustle. No 5 AM. No pretending you’re fine.

Enter your email below and I’ll send you the letters.

Everything I have ever published is free, and always will be. New posts open with the story for everyone. The paid membership gives you The Rewrite Room, where we do the actual work together. ❤️

Where to start

📍 If you want to understand my whole method, read this first.

Reinvention From The Inside Out →

Why almost everything you’ve been told about starting over begins in the wrong place, and what to do instead. This is the one that explains all the rest.

🌫️ If you’re standing in the fog right now

You’re functioning. You’re fine, technically. And you have no idea where you went.

You’re Not Falling Apart — You’re Becoming Someone New → Episode 6. My most-read piece, and I think it’s because it’s the sentence people needed someone to say out loud.

Burnout Recovery in Midlife: Consistency, Clarity & Community → Episode 3. What actually gets you out, as opposed to what people tell you gets you out.

The Sentence That Broke the Spell → Episode 1. How my own comeback started, and the exact moment it did.

💔 If you built a life for everyone else and can’t find yourself in it

The Belonging Paradox → I built belonging for hundreds of people while quietly starving for it myself. This is the most honest thing I’ve written, and it’s the one readers write back about.

This Wasn’t the Mother’s Day I Planned → On curveballs, hospital stays, and the blessings hiding inside a very hard week.

🌱 If your body gave out before your spirit did

Why Holistic Health Matters After Burnout → Episode 5. The first step of Reinventing Health, and why it isn’t the step you think.

Midlife, Hormones & Speaking Up → Episode 7, with Tracey Willingham. On self-trust, advocacy, and being unladylike.

🧠 If your brain has never worked the way they said it should

I’m neurodivergent. So is my entire family. So is a good chunk of this audience, whether they know it yet or not.

Carla See on Executive Function, ADHD, and the Parent Who’s Been the Reminder System Too Long → Episode 8.

Why Knowing Your Attachment Style Isn’t Enough → Episode 14, with psychologist Miriam Brait.

🔨 If you’ve done the inner work and you’re ready to build

Entrepreneurship After 50: Mindset Shifts for Your Second Act → From my archived Productive AF newsletter. Still one of the most useful things I’ve written for women going the entrepreneurial route.

From Overwhelmed to Productive AF: My Story & the Miracle Month Reset → The other half of my origin story, told from a different angle.

🎙️ The proof isn’t me. It’s them.

I could tell you reinvention works. But I’d rather introduce you to fourteen women and men who actually did it, and let them tell you themselves.

Natalie Beard: Soft Success After Life Falls Apart → Episode 10. Reinvention, one year later. What it actually looks like from the other side.

Bri Broadwater: Allergic to Flop → Episode 11. Two tech layoffs, then she built a coffee company.

Jacob Allen: From 20 Years of Addiction to Luxury Travel → Episode 12. If you think you’re too far gone, listen to this one.

Amanda Ingram: When Slowing Down Is the Shortcut → Episode 13. The whole thesis of this publication, in someone else’s words.

🚪 And when you’re ready to do the work

The Rewrite Room is where we walk the five steps together. Every week, a new piece of the path. A monthly thread where you bring me what you’re stuck on. A chat where you can say today was hard and someone will say I know and mean it.

And Reader Spotlight, where your comeback gets published, and you go to the front of the line for the show.

Where you become yourself again, with company and at your own pace, until your comeback is something you’re living instead of waiting for.

You made it to the end.

You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You don’t need to start over.

You’re coming home to who you’ve always been.

I’m really glad you’re here.
